I did not read this novella in the kindle format; rather, I purchased a paperback anthology of three novellas: . The other two novellas are by Annie Solomon and Carla Cassidy. The title of this is misleading, "Dirty Secrets," which seems salacious when, instead, the dirt refers to soil testing of building sites and the bad guys want to halt honest reports from the academic lab testing facility.Having said this, I think this novella probably is still to be labeled as Romantic Suspense genre, soI "met" Emma and Chris in Watch Your Back and when I discovered they had their own story, albeit a shorter one, I was on board immediately. Well...Hmmm.Let me start by saying I quite enjoyed it. It was funny when it needed to be, it was intense when it needed to be, it was dramatic when it needed to be, it was suspenseful when it needed to be...It's just that, due to everything that was going on, it appeared even shorter than it was.Let's start with the two, leads, shall we? Seventeen years ago,
In St Petersburg, Florida, a grad student is found dead in the lab and appears to be a suicide at first. Professor Chris Walker isn't convinced but cannot figure out who could have done such a thing. Meanwhile, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Emma Townsend is finally getting around to go through her deceased husband's things and finds her old high school year book. Inside is a letter she never saw, written by Chris Walker. She feels a need to contact him to let him know. But her journey to see Chris puts

Great book!I read this in two nights, and I didn't want to put it down the first night. Love books like this that I don't want to put down. Great story. I love Christopher and I want a guy just like him! I didn't want it to end, wanted to know how the rest of their life went. Great novella! Keep them coming!
Professor Christopher Walker is in the middle of dealing with what first looks like the accidental death of one of the grad students in his lab when someone from his past reaches out to him. His high school unrequited love, Emma Townsend, wants to see him. She's a psychologist, best selling author and traveling lecturer who just discovered the letter he gave her 17 years ago. Unfortunately, she's now drawn into the danger and mystery surrounding him and his lab. For a novella, this story read
Reviewed for THC ReviewsDirty Secrets is the shortest story Ive read by Karen Rose, who usually tends to write pretty chunky romantic suspense books. Since shes only authored a couple of novellas (although this one is on the longer end of the novella word count), I was wondering how she would handle this shorter format, and as it turns out, the answer to that is extremely well, equally as well as she writes her longer books. This one doesnt have any real ties to the novels that precede it, but
A quick and easy novella, which gives us a taste of characters Karen Rose is developing for her next full length book. I have not read a Karen Rose book for a while and enjoyed how quickly I could skip through this but still get a feel for the characters. It is very hard to fully develop in such a short space. But I will be looking for other Karen Rose books again.
