Assessment Based On Books The Dark Rose (Morland Dynasty #2)
The 5 stars isn't justifiable, but I don't care. I loved this read.

This is the second book in Cynthia Harrod-Eagles' Morland Dynasty series and it is set during the time of Henry VIII's reign. One of the reasons why I have been reading these books, Is because I find reading Historical Fiction a fun way to brush up on my History (I didn't really pay much attention to History class in school!). I was left a little confused because I didn't understand what happened to Henry VII. In the last book, He had become king, So I feel like this book had skipped a

My opening thought - as shared with Twitter - about this book is that Paul, like his father Ned, is a jerk.I'm at page 385 now, and that opinion hasn't really changed much. I still really dislike Paul and (vague spoiler) I have massive issues with Nanette's taste.I did love the beginning, and the connections being made with the Parr and Boleyn families, and can see Nanette's childhood connection with Katherine Parr making her time as Queen quite interesting for Nanette. It's an interesting

Needs better details Tricky to follow at times but a good plot. Wish the date was used more so you could better understand time passing

long story short: the morland women are tough af and i hope this is a reoccurring theme in the series.

Reading this series is like reading the Forrest Gump of Historical Fiction novels. The Dark Rose saw the Morelands in the life and times of King Henry VIII. We get up close and personal with Queen Anne Boleyn and Katheryn Parr. Definitely and interesting concept that Cynthia Harrod Eagles handles pretty well. I like this series despite parts of this novel feeling a bit dry in places. Sometimes I feel that she is just writing to get us to the next place in time she needs to deliver us to, and I

The second novel in the epic Morland Dynasty series. The Dark Rose takes place during the reign of Henry VIII. Most of the perspectives in this book are from Paul (Eleanor's great-grandson), the current master of the estate and his niece Nanette, who becomes maid-in-waiting to Anne Boleyn.I found myself zipping through this faster than its predecessor. There was no setting up, here; we got right into the story. While in The Founding, we mostly followed the perspective of Eleanor, and it was
