Chronicle Concering Books The Death Sculptor (Robert Hunter #4)
I discovered Chris Carter last year with his first book of Robert Hunter series, The Crucifix Killer. That book satisfied my needs for serial killers and fast-paced procedural. Starting book #2, the murders Chris Carter described were getting more gruesome and not for the faint-hearted or squemish stomach. In this book, Chris Carter kept giving that violent and gory murders, which of course compelled me to no-end (one reviewer said it was like a slasher movie, and I tend to agree). As always, there are several red herrings given, to throw readers off from the real killer and the real reason of the murders. However, I find it very interesting, that the victims were not as 'innocent' as they seemed to be. The victims were all 'noble' and 'good' people in the public's eyes. One was a former DA, one was a former LAPD Detective, and the other one was a psychologist. The reason on why they were killed lies in their past ... and I couldn't help to think that they deserved their current fate.
This book introduced a secondary female character, Alice Beaumont, that matches Robert's genius mind. At first, I think that she will be quite interesting as love interest for Robert. But as the story goes, I don't like that Alice seems to take the spotlight from Garcia, Robert's partner. I like Robert and Garcia's camaraderie and friendship ... and I feel like it is a bit missing. I even miss Anna, Garcia's wife.
The identity of the killer is a bit surprising ... but at the same time, makes me a bit confused (view spoiler)[Especially for Andrew's murder, when Olivia posed as mechanic ... was she really that strong that she could broke Andrew's jaw? And didn't these man ever saw her before, considering that Olivia was the daughter of Derek, the first victim, who once was their friend -- even if they never keep in touch, but Derek must be in the news once or twice, right? He is a DA for years. Why didn't they surprised/knew her before? (hide spoiler)]. Maybe I miss some hints. But it's still good :)
I want a good mystery, gruesome murders, and serial killers. Again, I get it from this and I'm satisfied....

Carter returns with another spine-chilling novel, taking paths of horror and murder more in line with Stephen King. When a terminally ill man is discovered, murdered and his organs placed in a crude sculpture, Detectives Hunter and Garcia are called to the scene. Using their knowledge and abilities, they try to piece together what looks to be a highly disturbing case, with no luck. When the DA offers up one of his best researchers, Alice Beaumont, Hunter and Garcia tap into her abilities to📚📚📚📚📚 out of 5Second book of book club and these books seriously have me questioning whether the author himself is actually a serial killer. I have never ever come across such intricate, dark and psychologically twisted crimes in my life and could barely put the books down for fear of potential nightmares if I didnt finish (I had 2)..This series continues with Detective Robert Hunter who has a series of seriously disturbed murders put in front of him. The killer hacks their victims into pieces
For those of a nervous disposition the fourth offering in Carters excellent crime series should be approached with caution, leaving all the fun of this dark and visceral thriller to us hardier souls. Carter is gathering quite a momentum with this series which achieves something that very few other crime authors balance successfully, that is empathy for both the victims and killer evinced in the character of Detective Robert Hunter. Through the single minded determination of Hunter, we are

Another excellent book from Chris Carter.Again the story follows his character Robert Hunter and he continues to develop the character making the stories even better. The short chapters in the style of James Patterson ensure a fast paced story that makes you think I will just read another chapter, and another ,,,,,
Superb! Did not expect the ending at all. Could not put it down!
Great police procedural. One of my (many) quirks is that I dont like fictional crime drama on TV, but I love it in book form. Its certainly not because I dont like gore or violence, nope no problem with that on film/TV. Having spent much time pondering this, I have come to the realisation that it is because the characters on TV/film feel one dimensional, whereas in the written form they become alive in my head, and any missing parts my imagination can film them in.Moving along to The Death
Another brilliant page turner from Chris Carter ..A skilful and determined killer acts out their plans whilst Robert Hunter and his team can only wonder as to the meanings of the macabre clues left behind .. Yes, this one was a bit gory, but I don't mind that if the overall storyline is engaging and realistic ..An excellent cat and mouse thriller, in which, as per usual, Detective Hunter manages to solve the riddles just in the nick of time .. or perhaps slightly too early, in this case ..The
