A fun read even for a big kid!Took me a few chapters to get into this book, trying to remember who everyone was but then I was hooked. I liked the castlemaine section (I am geographically biased) but what I most enjoyed was the mystery. I was trying to work out what had happened and I love a book that makes me think. Verity, as always, is an engaging and intriguing character. Thoroughly enjoyable read.
I loved the first two and so by comparison this one was really good, but not as amazing as the first two. I felt that this book ended the series and I was disappointed by that. I was hoping that there would be more in the series as the first two were simply brilliant.
After reading the first two Verity Sparks I was happy to read this new addition to the series, but unfortunately this book was nothing more than one 'Scooby-Doo' cliché after another. What has happen to the Verity we used to know? She turned from a feisty, resourceful young lady, into a quavering, wavering milk-sop. If she's not being obtuse and failing to understand the completely obvious, she's (view spoiler)[ jumping at shadows and being spooked out by a fairly innocuous distant relative.

I had a false start with this one. I started then put it down and wasn't going to pick it back up but I am glad I did. Once I was reading I couldn't stop, I was so curious about who was behind it all.A sad ending as well. The only issue I had was that we never really fond out why Miss Deane didn't want to marry SP (other than the slightly awkward proposal). They all speculated but a reason was never given. (view spoiler)[Of course she changes her mind but still (hide spoiler)]
Brilliant book
