Er gerät in einen wachsenden inneren Konflikt, als seine Frau Minna stirbt und er sich wieder verheiratet um die Versorgung seines Sohnes Tobias abzusichern. Crit Appertaining To Books Bahnwärter Thiel

This is a very interesting example of late-nineteenth century German literature. From the German student's (or teacher's) point of view, it has the benefit of being quite short, and written mostly in easy-to-follow German. It won't please everyone, being a tragedy, and rather a violent one at that, but it is a compelling read nonetheless. I guess the most important lesson this tragic story can teach is that you should never try to bury your feelings or escape the reality. It's all going to find you. A violent, though discreet, sad story of a man... who didn't know anymore whether he dreamed or not. So in the end he found somebody to blame. Even though his own fault is there to be discussed.Well, I guess Naturalism in its pure form is not really my thing.

This was an easy read but predictable. And I mean, what can really happen within 30 pages?

Bahnwärter Thiel is the school book example of Naturalism, everything is there. The family social drama, grounded in reality, mental decay, even some murders! Definetly interesting, but not something I'd write home about.
